Can I use data from a competition for a research paper?

As a general rule, it is prohibited to use the data for research themes different from those set in the competition.

If you wish to write or publish a paper or other publication on the know-how, techniques, etc. you have gained through joining the competition, you may use the data as long as the content and scope of publication specified in the "Information Disclosure Policy" section of the competition page is "Analysis Results: Permitted for Publication. However, please note that in the case of a competition with a deadline, the data distributed in the competition must be deleted after the competition is over. In addition, if the distributed data includes images, there may be cases where the use of even some of the images is prohibited, so please be sure to check the "Notes" section of the "Information Disclosure Policy.

Additionally, you may publish the results if the competition type is either "SOTA" or "Practice", whose purpose is sharining knowledge. However, if there are any citation rules in the Terms of Participation, please comply with them.

*SIGNATE Private Competition users cannot participate in "SOTA" or "Practice".
